Installing Nestcote

If you accepted the invitation and the link led nowhere, nothing is broken and you have not done anything wrong. There are four reasons this happens and all four look identical from your side.

Before you start

The order that works

  1. Accept the invitation, on any device

Open the link below while signed in with the Google account you gave us. It will say you are a tester. This step is what tells Google to let you in, and nothing works before it.

  2. Wait a little

Being accepted does not make the app appear at once. It can take a few hours for Google to catch up. If you try straight away and find nothing, that is expected, and trying again harder will not help.

  3. Open the Play Store app on your child’s phone

The app, not a web browser. The Play website does not show apps that are still in closed testing, so opening the download link on a laptop shows a "not found" page no matter what you do. Search for Nestcote inside the Play Store app instead.

  4. Check which account the Play Store is using

Tap the profile circle at the top right of the Play Store. If it is not the account you accepted with, switch to it. This is the single most common reason an accepted tester still cannot see the app.

Accept the invitation

If it still will not appear

The page says the requested URL was not found.
You opened the store link in a web browser. Closed-testing apps are not on the Play website. Open the Play Store app on the phone instead.
The Play Store says the app is not available for your device.
The phone is probably on Android 10 or older, or is a 32-bit device. Nestcote needs Android 11 or newer. Check Settings, then About phone.
Searching for Nestcote finds nothing at all.
Either the account is wrong, or Google has not caught up yet. Check the profile circle first, then try again in a few hours.
It says you are not part of the testing programme.
The address on the tester list is not the account you are signed in as. Tell us which Google account is signed in on the phone and we will add it.

Still stuck?

Reply to the invitation email, or write to us, and say what the screen said. Tell us which Google account is signed in on your child’s phone and what Android version it runs. That is usually enough for us to fix it at our end. [email protected]
