Nestcote uses Android’s screen-capture system (MediaProjection) to look at what is on your child’s screen, in every app on the phone.

Every frame is analysed in memory, on the device itself, and then discarded. Frames are never written to permanent storage, never uploaded, and never seen by us, because there is nowhere for them to go. The app has no way to send us your child’s screen, and we have not built one.

Nestcote keeps two things on the device, and nothing else:

Nestcote has one optional network feature: an alert email that tells you when protection stops. It is off by default, and while it is off the app makes no network calls at all. Protection itself never needs a connection.

If you switch it on, the app sends five fields and nothing else: the email address you entered, a device label you chose, which event happened, a short reason code, and a timestamp. It cannot send screen content, app names, categories, or detection scores. The message has no field for them.

Alert delivery is not switched on yet. Until sending is fully set up, the toggle stays disabled in the app, so nothing is promised that cannot arrive.

There are no accounts, no cloud storage, no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party libraries that phone home.

This website is separate from the app on your child’s device. It collects only:

The beta runs through Google Play’s closed testing, which is the only way Google allows a limited test group. To invite you, we add the email address you gave us to the tester list in Google Play Console. Google processes that address under its own terms as part of running the Play Store.

This happens only when we invite your family, and only with the address you submitted. If you would rather not be added, reply to the invitation and we will remove you from the list instead.

Nestcote is installed and configured by a parent. Children do not create accounts and do not send data to us.

Your child’s screen content is processed entirely on the device and discarded. It never reaches us, in any form, at any time. We do not build a profile of your child’s activity, browsing, or behaviour.

If you add your children’s ages to the waiting-list form, that is information you chose to share to help us plan the beta. It does not come from the child and contains nothing from their device.

You can ask us to delete your waiting-list details at any time by emailing us (see Contact, below).

You control everything the app keeps on the device: review, change, or reset settings and clear the event log from inside the app whenever you want.

Nestcote is heading into a closed beta, and this policy will change alongside the product. We update the date at the top of this page whenever we make a material change.
